There's much to enjoy culturally in Cortona. Highlights include - The Republic Square itself, the nearby Town Hall, the MAEC (where you can see a V century chandelier, and a sculpture of Polymnia Cortonensis), the Cathedral with the Diocesan Museum (which houses the Annunciation painting by Beato Angelico and other works by important Tuscan artists such as Luca Signorelli), the Church of San Francesco and the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita Cortona which welcomes tourists with all the charm of the most beautiful towns in Italy. There are numerous festivals and historic events events held annually in Cortona including Giostra, the Tuscan Sun Festival of Dance.
